    Here is the background story to the video above: I learned about Prosser's gravity hill from the book Weird Washington (2008, authors Davis & Eufrasio), and I was successful at finding the hill on August 23, 2008 on a return trip from Seattle to Walla Walla.  Although it made for an interesting diversion, ultimately I was not very impressed with the visual illusion as it is fairly evident that you're going downhill before the road inclines at the end.  It was interesting, to be sure, but I thought the "wow" factor was low and I would not likely return to experience the hill again.  If you're in the area, the gravity hill could be a good way to spend a couple of hours out in the wheat fields, but I wouldn't go to great lengths just to travel to this site as you could be disappointed (and this is coming from someone who travels large distances to see stuff that most people find trivial — see my entries on

    Sorry we spent an hour here and started in several spots and every where we started my car went up hill. even when we started at the bottom of the little rise in the road where it was flat it shoved my van up the hill even when I started at the base of the rise my car went up and when I started at the top of the rise and pushed my car back to roll down the hill it would only a couple of feet and stopped it was in neutral pointing up the hill and just sat there...  I was very skeptical when I went there went with the intention to prove my sisters was foolish to believe such a scam but it was me that was proven wrong and I pushed this so many ways to prove her and there 5 adults in my van wrong...

    try it and try it from all points in the road from the start point all the way to the base of rise in the road...

    @REV_T -

    It's an optical illusion. It's actually a hill going slightly downward. but the layout of the field and everything else is makes it seems as though it's a hill going upward. Therefor when you're in a car and not using the breaks, it will appear as though you're going uphill. When in fact, you're going down hill.

    Would anyone be able to tell me how to get to this area?  My friend and I are interested in a mini-roadtrip there from western WA.  I would like to take some surveying equipment with us and do some shots to determine elevations and settle things once and for all.

    Please e-mail me:  ClioMouse at yahoo dot com

    Thanks!

    The story behind Gravity hill is actually true about the murders.  My Great Grandma actually lived in prosser when all of this happened and told us the story.  Trust me it scared the crap out of us.  The actual hill and the car thing is not so true tho.  There is some really cool history in Prosser Washington.  I know of other haunted locations in the area but unfortunately my favorite has been so vandalized by idiots that I don't want to give out the location to help preserve what is left.

    My sister and I just did this an hour ago! It was amazing! It was exactly like what is being showed here! We actually started out facing the wrong direction, and we started going backwards! We turned around, and did it the right way, and we made it all the way to the top and over the hill! Unbelievable but true!!! Go have got to try this!!!

    This is the craziest thing ever!

    I posted the comment that says rubberduckie421. I don't know where that e-mail address came from. But my sister and i really did do this and was so freaking cool! I can't explain this at all, I have heard about this for years and on a whim, we just started out on a jouney today to find this and did. It was amazing!
